I’m not going to lie – I love when Starbucks fall menu items are available just as much as the next person. It’s not truly fall unless I’ve had at least one pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin scone or slice of pumpkin bread.
Of course, none of those treats are on the cheap side. And if you get more than one you are looking upwards of 10 bucks. The solution? Make them at home!

Starbucks pumpkin bread is a dense snack or breakfast bread that is full of pumpkin flavor. It is sometimes called pumpkin loaf and is topped with pumpkin seeds. It is available on Starbucks seasonal menu and appears in early September.
What are the ingredients in Starbucks pumpkin bread?
The best part about this easy pumpkin bread is that the ingredient list is pretty simple. You should be able to find most of the ingredients in your local grocery store.
To make this Starbucks copycat pumpkin bread recipe you will need:
- flour
- baking powder + baking soda
- regular + brown sugar
- vanilla
- eggs
- oil
- pumpkin pie spice
- pumpkin puree
- pumpkin seeds
You can use any type of flour that you like for this recipe. If you want to make this pumpkin bread gluten free, use your favorite gluten free flour blend or mix. I always have good luck with King Arthur gluten free flour blend and no one can tell it’s not regular flour!
Next you will need some of the most common baking ingredients – baking powder and soda, sugars, vanilla extract, and eggs. I love using homemade vanilla extract whenever possible. It always has a better flavor than store bought and is super simple to make!
We round out the ingredients list with all our pumpkin necessities. You will need pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin seeds. Use any type of pumpkin puree you prefer, just make sure and check the ingredients to ensure it’s real pumpkin without anything added in.
I love making a big batch of pumpkin pie spice at the beginning of fall to have on hand. It’s great for baking or for your fall copycat coffee drinks.
How to make Starbucks pumpkin bread
Once you have all your ingredients, you will also need to grab:
- 8 x 4 in loaf pan
- Medium bowl
- Whisk
- Electric mixer w/ mixing bowl
- Toothpick
Start by mixing together all your dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Put your flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice and salt in the bowl and whisk together until smooth.
In your mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients for the pumpkin bread. Add your eggs, oil and vanilla plus your sugars to the bowl. You want to mix until everything is light and fluffy.
Add in your pumpkin puree to the wet mixture and mix until smooth.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to your wet mixture. Do this in batches – add in about 1/3 of the flour mixture and mix well. Then repeat until all the dry ingredients have been added to your mixing bowl. Combine well.
Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish. You can use cooking spray, oil, butter or even parchment paper here. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top and bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
Allow to cool and then cut into slices.

You can tell the pumpkin bread is done when the top is firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The bread should also start to pull away from the sides slightly.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2/3 C vegetable oil
- 3/4 C sugar
- 1/4 C brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can pumpkin puree (1 C)
- 2-3 TBSP pumpkin seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.Prep loaf pan with non-stick spray
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Using an electric mixer combine the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla,and eggs in the mixing bowl until smooth. Add in the pumpkin puree beating until mixed.
- Reduce the mixer to low. Slowly add in the flour mixture into the mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth.
- Scoop the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds on the top.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Check to ensure that the bread is done by touching the top of the loaf.The loaf will feel slightly firm.Insert a toothpick in the center of the loaf and if it comes out clean the bread is done.
- Set pan aside to cool. Once cooled slice and then serve.
