Cranberry Orange Mimosa Recipe Notes
This recipe can be prepared in as little as 5-minutes. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you are making your delicious cocktail:
- There are many kinds of sparkling wine. I often opt for Italian Prosecco in a mimosa because it’s more affordable than traditional French Champagne— but still just as delicious.
- I recommend using freshly squeezed orange juice, although bottled will work as well.
- It is important to use pure cranberry juice, not cranberry juice cocktail. Pure cranberry juice has a more tart, berry flavor while cranberry juice cocktail is very sweet and fruity.
- Make sure to chill the sparkling wine, orange juice, and cranberry juice before making your cocktail. Mimosas should be served chilled, but not with ice.
Other Christmas Drinks to Try
In addition to the Cranberry Orange Mimosa, there are several other Christmas drinks worth trying. You might want to have coconut eggnog with rum, mini punch bowls with vodka, and even homemade hard apple cider. Here are some of my other favorite drinks:
- Sparkling Cranberry Punch
- Classic Irish Coffee
- Mulled Wine
- Slow Cooker Holiday Sangria
- White Christmas Sangria Cocktail
- Naughty Elf Cocktail
Can I Store a Mimosa For Later?
I do not recommend making mimosa more than 15 minutes before serving as the sparkling wine will start to flatten (lose its bubbles) immediately once opened.
You can store your Cranberry Orange Mimosa for later. You might want to make it a few hours before an event or even the night before. If you are reserving a mimosa for later, pour the orange juice and cranberry juice into a beverage pitcher with a lid and put it in the fridge. Before you start serving drinks, add in the sparkling wine, and give the beverage a good stir.
Can I Use Any Wine?
While you can use different brands and flavors of wine, you should always select a sparkling wine when preparing a mimosa. There are plenty of affordable sparkling wine options available!
