You might be surprised to learn that a Cookie and Cream Cake Pop from Starbucks contains a whopping 440 calories! And that’s not even including the vanilla dip coating, which adds an additional 120 calories.
So if you’re watching your waistline, you might want to give this treat a miss. But if you’re looking for a delicious indulgence, this cake pop is hard to beat.
Do Cake Pops Need to be Frozen Before Dipping?
The answer is a bit complicated and depends on a few factors.
For starters, it’s important to note that not all cake pops need to be frozen before dipping. If your cake pop dough is firm enough to hold its shape without being too crumbly, then you can probably skip the freezing step. However, if your cake pop dough is on the softer side, freezing it for an hour or two beforehand will help to make it more firm and easier to dip.
Another factor to consider is the type of coating you’ll be using for your cake pops. If you’re planning on using a hard candy coating, such as melted chocolate or candy melts, then freezing the cake pops beforehand is definitely recommended. This will help to prevent the candy coating from melting too quickly and becoming runny. On the other hand, if you’re using a softer icing or glaze, then freezing isn’t necessary.
Can I Make Cake Pops a Day Before The Party?
The good news is that cake pops can be made a day or two in advance and stored in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve them. Just be sure to keep them in an airtight container so they don’t dry out. When you’re ready to serve them, simply remove them from the fridge and let them come to room temperature. Then, enjoy your delicious cake pops!
If you’re making cake pops for a party that’s more than two days away, you’re better off freezing them.
To freeze cake pops, simply insert a toothpick into each pop, then place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze for about an hour, then transfer to a freezer-safe storage container or bag. When you’re ready to serve the cake pops, simply thaw them at room temperature for about an hour.
