I love this question this week! I know it may seem silly since its asking how to soothe your little ones, but almost everyone had the same answer. Cuddles! And who doesnt love baby cuddles?
What are your best tips and tricks for soothing your sick little ones?
Mommy: Katlyn
When my son, Bentley, falls under the weather there are a few simple things that we do. We first give him a honey elixir. It’s all natural and always seems to calm him down. He then gets lots of love and cuddles from mommy and daddy! Warm milk always helps it seems too.

Lots of lovin’! Favorite movies/tv, audio books or stories, ginger-ale, bubble bath, go outside if possible for a change of scenery/fresh air, popsicles.

This is going to be such a horrible answer but I don’t really have one. Except for tons of snuggling and just being there. I am horrible with little remedies so I am hoping some of you have some tips and tricks!

In our case it seems what works is really just a constantly available set of arms and as much nursing as he wants.

Ah, sad times when a kid is sick! The last tummy bug that spread through my children we took turns doting on the “sickie of the day”. We rented a new children’s movie from the Redbox, got a new little toy from the dollar store, and otherwise followed the typical sick protocol. Popsicles, ginger ale, a cool washcloth for a feverish forehead, a relaxing bath, and we always make a bed on the livingroom couch so the invalid doesn’t feel so isolated and alone in their room. Get well soon!

Lots of cuddle time, especially for babies. When they are so young they don’t really understand why they don’t feel right or why they don’t like it. I think the best thing to do is give them lots of love!

Let them sleep however, wherever and whenever they want. Cool cloths help soothe feverish heads, and warm fuzzy blankets help warm up chilled little bodies. Do your best to get them to drink something – soda, juice, water, sports drink, whatever they will drink – when they are awake.

A nice warm bath, with bubbles of course. Lots of books and cuddle time. A cool mist vaporizer for congestion. As the babies got older, I’d sometimes make an easy fort for them to play/rest in. I threw a blanket over a card table or 4 chairs. Extra movies help the crabbies too & how can an extra movie/ naptime hurt every once in awhile?

When our little girl has a cold, I take her into the shower with me. We have a large, walk in shower so she crawls around and has a blast. Between the steam and the entertainment value, it really seems to help her out. If nothing else, the steam causes all manner of snot to come out!

My best trick for a sick, stuffy, coughing kid is rubbing Vicks on their chest, turning on a super hot shower, and shutting the door. Stand in there and let the steam and the Vicks work together. It’s a quick, cheap de-congestant. Plus, you get some extra snuggle time! Promise it will make them feel better, and a bonus for Mom……your skin will thank you too.

When my kiddos were little & got sick, the 1st thing I would do is put them in a warm bath. Then once they were out, I'd COAT their chest & back w/Vicks Vapo-rub & zip them into a blanket sleeper (we lived in Northern Illinois – cold all the way into Spring-time!) Then it was time for cuddling up & their favorite movie. My Grandmother believed Vicks helped everything – and my kids seemed to get well quicker when I used it, it opens up/helps their breathing and eases muscle aches, too!!!)
