I’ve mentioned before that I love breakfast, Im just not a morning person. Most mornings Ryon wakes up early [like 5:30 AM early], reads the news and drinks coffee. Avery is just like his father so he wakes up about 30 minutes after Ryon, which is way to early for this momma. So most mornings Ryon cooks breakfast while Im stumbling awake. [He’s a good man yall.] Last week he made one of my favorite easy homemade recipes – sausage gravy breakfast sandwich.
As much as I like to cook, its nice to wake up to both breakfast and coffee in the morning. Especially when its a good Southern comfort food like sausage gravy. And I have to confess, Ryon made the biscuits and the gravy but Im the extreme genius that turned it into a sandwich. I know, I know. Im so modest too.
To make these delicious sausage gravy sandwiches you will need:
For the biscuits –
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1 tbs baking powder
- pinch of salt
For the sausage gravy –
- Packaged breakfast sausage
- Milk and flour
To make the biscuits, combine all your ingredients and baked at 350 for 15-20 minutes. While your biscuits are baking start cooking your sausage in a frying pan. Once the sausage is done remove it from the pan and reserve some of the drippings for the gravy. Whisk in your milk and flour in the sausage drippings until you start to form a gravy. Reduce heat and let cook for a few minutes. Take out your biscuits, add your gravy and cheese and enjoy.
So Ryon did all of the above except make a sandwich at the end. Which is ok, I guess Im just the creative genius in the house. A modest and humble genius. [Side note – I miss spelled genius both types in this post and had to use spell check. Clearly Im some sort of super genius.] The only thing to do now is enjoy your sandwich, you genuis you.
