This weeks question is..
What was the most challenging thing during the first two weeks of being home with your new baby?
Mommy: Brandy
The most challenging thing about the first 2 weeks home with my first bundle of joy was finding room for all the baby gifts! My sweet baby was so excitedly welcomed into our lives that I ended up with 3 of 5 baby showers in my first 2 weeks home. And that does not include the gifts that arrived in the mail or from people not at a shower. I felt so loved, but got writers cramp from writing thank you’s during naptime.
Mommy: Melissa
Physically the pain. I just felt like I ached all over.
Emotionally… just over all adjusting to a new tiny and amazing person. Whether your a new mom or a mom with 5 kids you have to find new ways to adjust to a new little one in the house. Schedual is what really got me. I got the basics down eventually but I didn’t fully figure out **everything** until maybe 6 months ago. My son is 5 now. So it took me a while.
Mommy: Amanda
Getting enough sleep and getting used to breast feeding. My boobs {well nipples} did not take to it very well. I ended up blistering a bit but after a couple weeks all was good :). Also getting over my nerves, I was so nervous about everything. It was such a whirlwind but an amazing one!
Mommy: Rachel
It’s definitely been different challenges with my different babies. But with my last one (who just turned 2!), getting back into nursing was surprisingly difficult. I think what happened is that I assumed I would be aces at it, and so therefore I didn’t focus on getting the latch just right. After just a couple days the damage had been done and anyone who has had this trouble knows the pain involved with the word “cracked”. With the help of Lansinoh Lanolin ointment, concentrating on getting her latch just right, and a cranberry-vodka cocktail my husband coined, “Bloody Nipple”, by the two weeks postpartum landmark this problem had healed up and we were good to go.
Mommy: Kelley
Breastfeeding! I didnt realize it was going to be so hard or painful. I read book after book that said the pain would only last a few days but I hurt for weeks. I talked to lactation consults and other breastfeeding moms to make sure everything was ok. (I was doing everything right according to them)
Mommy: Brittney
1. Lack of sleep. It REALLY hit me hard. I would get 2-3 hours at a time between feedings, and even if I got 3 2-3 hour blocks it still wasn’t the same as sleeping 6 hours straight!
2. C-section recovery. I wasn’t prepared for how sore I was going to be and how little I could seriously do. It stunk!
3. I won’t lie – Breast Feeding. I’m glad I did it, but it was SO STRESSFUL at first. Was she latching on correctly, was she getting enough to eat. Again, I’m glad I pushed through it!
Mommy: Jill
The most challenging thing for me when coming home with the new baby was the lack of sleep. It was definitely an adjustment. It was hard to get used to only having a couple hours of sleep at a time.
Another challenge for me was figuring out the whole breast feeding thing. It was amazing how it took so much work. I know in the end it paid off for my kids, but it was hard.
Mommy: Natalia
Sleep, like every other momma, I’m sure. With my second baby, my husband wasn’t home, so I was doing it by myself, that was hard. Basically managing babies, life, and everything else!!

I wondered if that entered or if the page just disappeared on me when I sent my answer in. 🙁 it must have disappeared. http://www.simplyraising8.com/2012/03/mommy-panel-first-two-weeks-of-being.html
