Peanut butter blossoms. (sigh) The sweetest holiday treat around. I think that Jesus ate peanut butter blossoms. It has to be in the bible somewhere.. Ill look it up and get back to you.
This Saturday (while all my bloggy friends were linking up their Christmas cookie recipes) I was making 4 dozen peanut butter blossoms for my very first cookie exchange! Yes.. four dozen cookies. I was so nervous that I wasnt going to make enough. I gobble these suckers up three at a time!
{my secret diet was on hold Saturday night.. shhh}
But I have a confession.. they werent 100% homemade. I know I know! Horrible.. inexcusable! But hear me out on this one. Im lazy.. and I was running short on time. I went from using 13 ingredients.. to only needing 6. Yup.. I was lazy and I loved it.
Ingredients:
2 bags peanut butter cookie mix
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
2 eggs
a lot of Hershey kisses
1 cup sugar
Preheat over to 350
I know your not going to look at this picture the same knowing that I cheated.. but its ok. You mix the ingredients together minus the kisses. Those sweet chocolately delights are for later.
Take your dough and roll them into balls. Take your balls (insert high school girl giggle here) and roll them in the sugar. Place them on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Ps.. I could have made a few more dozen cookies if I didnt make them so big. Who the heck actually makes 1 inch cookies?! Not this girl thats for sure!
Your balls (giggle) come out looking like this after 10 minutes. Not to impressive.. I know. Just wait.
Peel the wrapper off the kisses and get them ready to meet their new BFF. (Side note.. why doesnt Hersheys make a bag of kisses that are unwrapped for the lazy folks like me?! Hersheys if your listening I WILL BUY THEM! In bulk!)
Smush a kiss in the center of the lonely peanut butter cookie and resist eating them right away. I mean it.. walk away and play with your kids. Or dogs. Or read a trashy magazine. Anything that will take your mind of the ooey gooey goodness that is cooling in the kitchen.
Stack them into a cute little pyramid and put them somewhere that you wont eat them all. I had to put them in the den and steer clear.
Make sure you take awkward pictures with your camera phone because you let your husband take your real camera.
See? Ooegy and gooey. Friends Im not going to lie. I was on a peanut butter blossom binge all day today. I kept telling myself ‘This is the last one!’ But they are so soft and the chocolate just makes the whole cookie a little slice of heaven.
We ended up with so many cookies. It was crazy. If you are going to have a cookie exchange in the future make sure your not the host. Not to be rude but I have 4 containers full of cookies. And I cant let delicious cookies go to waste. So they go somewhere else.. my belly. And then my thighs want in on the party and my hips. And it gets insane. 😉
Do you have a favorite Christmas cookie? I hope you link it up at our online Christmas cookie exchange! If not just tell me what it is so I can drool look it up.

Kelley, these look so delicious! Is it awful to admit that I've never, ever had this kind of cookie before? Yup, I may have been raised under a rock. 😉 My kids are a bit obsessed with peanut butter. I'm thinking we may have to try these very soon. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you so much for this recipe and for admitting you used a mix! I am baking cookies right now and using the Pillsbury premade – break off the chunk and put them on the cookie sheet kind! (GASP!) I was beating myself up about it but no more! Tired, busy, working women unite – premixed & premade is ok! Merry Christmas Kelley!
