Two things happened to make this easy homemade recipe a reality – my kids forgot about their Halloween candy and my husband loves Reese’s. That’s right, my kids forgot about their bags filled with Halloween candy. But I can only eat so many mini candy bars before I start to want something else. So I combined their leftover candy with some bread dough and made Reese’s Monkey Bread.
I’ve never made monkey bread before but I have made mini monkey muffins, which I thought were the same thing. They kind of were similar but the muffins stayed together a bit better then my monkey bread. I baked my bread in a bundt pan and once it was cool I thought it would come out in one gorgeous hunk of monkey bread. Mine instead came out in several parts. Some were stuck together and some were like ‘I want freeeee from this monkey bread!’ Either way, this bread was delicious and easy to make!
To make this Reese’s Monkey Bread you will need:
- 2 cans of biscuits [I used Grands Flaky]
- 2 dozen mini Reese’s cups
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup of cinnamon sugar
- 1 stick of butter
I used the stick of butter and greased my bundt cake pan thoroughly. I took each biscuit and divided it into thirds before adding a Reese’s to the center. I folded the dough around the Reese’s, rolled it in the butter and then coated it with the cinnamon sugar. Then I added them to the bundt pan and put them in the oven to bake.
What came out was a buttery, flaky bread with a slight crisp around the edges. Then once you took a bite you found a hidden Reese’s in the center of the bread. It was like Halloween and Christmas came together to form on delicious monkey bread.
These didn’t last long in our house. I left the bread on the counter and it was the perfect height for the kids to reach. They would grab a piece and disappear into the living room or their play room long enough to devour it. They thought they were being sneaky, but who is the one who hid their Halloween candy in a monkey bread? That’s right, this mom!
