Our first Mommy Panel question and answer! Squeaaaal! I dont even know what to say because Im so excited. Seriously.. no words. You know thats a big deal for me!
Our question this week was:
What are your favorite mommy apps?.. and why?
Please include the type of phone you have too 🙂
And our mommies answered:
Mommy: Tricia
Phone: Samsung Transform
“Kid Coloring” – color pictures
“Kids Connect” – connect the dots
“Ant Smash” – game where you smash ants
“Make Me a Princess” – doll to dress up
“123s ABCs” – draw letters and numbers with your finger
“Solo Lite” – strum a guitar
“Angry Birds” – self-explanatory! 🙂

1) Fisher Price Laugh & Learn “Let’s Count” and “Animal Sounds”. Why? Because they’re free, which is my number one requirement and because when we’re out and about and she starts getting restless, I know she’ll hush up…er, I mean…be entertained when I turn on those interactive apps. And, I feel like they’re moderately educational, you know, for something I use for the sole purpose or giving me 5 more minutes in Target.
2) My Fitness Pal. Let’s face it, those babies mess a sista up. Like, will my jeans ever zip again, messed up. My Fitness Pal tells you to consume about 1/8th of what you did before and, oh yeah, go to the gym. And, if you do, your booty just might jiggle a little less. I’ve used a lot of calorie tracking apps and this is the best!! I find it has the most comprehensive database of foods.
3) When my daughter was a newborn and I’d spend looong stretches of time nursing, I loved “What To Expect When You’re Expecting”. There is some pretty good info to be gleaned, but I really liked reading the message boards. Is it weird that at 2am when I was awake and nursing a baby, I found comfort in other people’s stupidity?? The message boards are full of questions that made me feel very capable. I’d think, okay, this lady wants to know at what age she can start her kid on soda. If she can do this whole parenting thing, I can. (What?? I’m just being honest!)

Cozi is my new favorite. Last year I would complain to my husband that I never was able to take time to myself as I didn’t have access to his calendar. Now we have a family calendar on Cozi and he puts any evening or weekend appointments on it. I’ve added a couple of “Mom’s Day Off” to it, and plan to try for at least one a month.
SplashShopper is a good grocery list app, but it was better when it was on the Palm. Still it saves all the items you have bought in the past so you can just check off items as needed instead of having to rewrite it every time.
Pinterest is a new favorite. It’s great for recipes, crafts, decorating ideas, things to do with the kids, and just something fun and inspiring to look at when waiting for kids at pick up.

For those of you who are going to be breast feeding or are currently breast feeding I have found an awesome app to help you keep track. I found many times when I went to nurse that I couldn’t remember which side I did last and then trying to keep track of how long you had been feeding them was just a pain for me. I found a great app called Breast Feeding Friend. It comes up BFF on your phone. It has 2 cupcakes on it and you tap which side you are currently doing. When you tap it the timer starts so then you know how long you have been feeding for!! Then when you go to feed again a few hours later you can also remember which side you did the last time you fed because it lets you know!! It worked so well for me with my last baby.

My favorite apps right after having my little miss were game apps. I needed something mindless to do to keep me awake during those of so frequent late night feedings. I honestly played a ton of solitaire. You can find all kinds of free solitaire apps out there. I also got back into Angry Birds. It was a way for me to stay awake while my little miss sleep ate.
