Thanksgiving is when everyone makes TURKEY! I love turkey, but there’s only so many days in a row that I can eat leftover turkey. So, what in the world do you do with all that leftover turkey? Leftover turkey sliders, of course! Let me show you how to make this easy lunch or dinner recipe today.
We’ve all been there. You have Tupperware full of leftovers and you don’t know what to make with them. Even those of us who love leftovers can get tired of eating the same thing all week long.
But don’t worry – I got you! These leftover turkey sliders will take your leftover turkey and turn them into a new and delicious meal! Boom! Leftover magic.
What are leftover turkey sliders?
This quick and easy dinner recipe is a combination of leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, slider buns, and cheese. They are baked to perfection after you apply a buttery topping and are a great way to use up leftover turkey!
How Many Days Does Leftover Turkey Last?
Cooked leftover turkey that has been placed in the refrigerator is good for about 3 to 5 days. Additionally, you do not want to reheat your leftover meat more than once. Be sure to use your leftover Thanksgiving turkey in a few days.
Can I Freeze Leftover Turkey?
Yes, you can freeze your leftover turkey. If you aren’t able to eat it in 3 to 5 days, you will want to place it in the freezer. Put it in a ziplock freezer bag and plop it in there. You can save your turkey for 3 to 4 months this way.
Leftover Turkey Sliders Ingredients
If you already have your leftover turkey, you won’t need much for this recipe. Here’s what you need to make 6 to 9 sandwiches:
- 1 sheet sandwich rolls
- 3 cups cooked, shredded turkey
- 6-9 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup butter, or more as desired
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
Sandwich rolls – These can normally be found in the deli aisle of most grocery stores. I like to get the Hawaiian sweet rolls, but feel free to grab whichever brand you prefer.
Turkey – This recipe works great with leftover shredded turkey. You can also use deli slices, or any other leftover meat you have. Ham would work here too!
Cheese – I used Swiss cheese slices here but you can substitute for your favorite cheese. Provolone or even white cheddar would be nice.
Seasoning – I used a mild poultry seasoning blend for the topping on these sliders. Feel free to use your favorite spices for the buttery topping.
How to Make Leftover Turkey Sliders
These sliders are pretty easy to make and a great way to use up that leftover turkey. Follow the steps below!
Step 1 Prep
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and line a 9” x 13” casserole dish.
Step 2 Prep the Sandwiches
Cut the sandwich roll sheet in half through the middle and lay the bottom half of the sandwiches in the casserole dish. Layer on the shredded turkey, followed by the Swiss cheese slices. Cover the sandwich fillings with the top of the sandwich sheet.
Step 3 Make Buttery Topping
In a small saucepan, melt the butter and Dijon mustard over medium-high heat, whisking to emulsify together.
Step 4 Brush on Buttery Topping
Pour the butter over the sandwiches, using a pastry brush to ensure even coating. Evenly sprinkle the poultry seasoning over the buns.
Step 5 Bake
Bake for 20 minutes, until butter is fully absorbed and sandwich tops are lightly browned.
Slice and serve.

How to Store Leftovers
If you have leftovers, you can store them in the refrigerator in a ziplock bag or wrapped tightly in tinfoil. You will want to eat them in 24 hours or less to maintain flavor.
Can I Freeze Them?
Yes, you can freeze them. I like to think of them as the frozen White Castle sandwiches. I put 2 sandwiches in a ziplock freezer bag. When I am ready to eat them, I open the bag to vent and plop them in the microwave for 1 minute.
