All That Glitters [Decorations]

A few months before our wedding I was laid off from my full time job and took a part time job as a high school softball coach.  I loved it.. I was outside, I was teaching my favorite sport, my girls were hilarious and I had tons of time to work on the wedding.  I saw it as blessing and was happy to have the extra time.  
Our ceremony was at our church in Frankenmuth.  [Yes, thats a real city in Michigan!]  We didnt have much for decorations at the church.. not that we were allowed but I just loved the beauty of the church.  

I made these sand dollar ties for the ends of the pew.  My grandma collected these before I was born and I was happy to have a little part of her at the wedding.  I used navy blue ribbon.. of course.

My aunt flew up from Texas to be at the wedding.. and to do my flowers!  I was so excited to have her there and it was so much fun picking out what I wanted together.  Gotta love having a florist in the family!  

One of my favorite decorations at the reception was our custom card box.  Ryon’s Opa made us a mini church complete with stained glass windows and a steeple.  There are even shingles on the roof.  It was perfect.  Its proudly displayed at our house now.  

Opa added a plaque with our names and wedding date on the inside.  So much love was put into our little church.

On our tables we had lanterns, shells, favor boxes and Hershey’s kisses.  I was lucky and got these lanterns on sale at Kohls for $3 each! They had red, white.. and blue!  The red added a nice pop of color on the tables.

Some tables had these lovelies on them.  More shells from my grandma and some from Ryon’s great uncle.  Our photographer was amazing too.  My good friend from college flew up and took such amazing pictures.  All photo credits go to Brandy W!

Handmade favor boxes.  They look nice.. but man were they a pain to make!  Ribbon, stickers and lots and lots of double sided tape.  Only to realize that all that tape made them super hard to open.  Ooops!  They looked pretty and they had salt water taffy in them.  So when people did get them open.. yum!  

The beautiful head table.  Our reception was at a country club and was just gorgeous.  The head table [and all the beautiful flowers and other decorations] were set in front of a stone fireplace.  

Did I mention that I love my dress?  I did.. oh.

    What a gorgeous church for the ceremony! The coaching gig definitely sounds like a blessing. I loved spending my previous summers as a horse back riding instructor at a girls summer camp. So much fun, and so rewarding!
