Thanksgiving is over and now the countdown to Christmas begins! And what better way to remind yourself daily that you have a ton of things to do before December 25th than a lace and burlap countdown to Christmas board?
This countdown board started off as something entirely different, but due to a series of craft fails the countdown board was born. Its simple to make.. if you go straight to making the countdown banner and skip all the craft fails. Im going to skip the fails and show you how I made it.. how does that sound? Perfect!
Start by covering a wrapped canvas with lace. I bought this lace from Joanns around Halloween. I thoroughly enjoyed this picture because a. Im not dressed in yoga pants b. you can see how crazy my hair really is c. you can see that I choose crafting over cleaning [the huge pile of clean clothes gives it away] and d. you cant see my extra chins. Craft win!
I think my favorite crafty ‘tool’ is the my staple gun. It makes me feel powerful.. even when Im stapling lace. I used a similar technique on my painted birdie wall art.
Fast forward past the craft fails and tears and hot glue a piece of burlap to your lace canvas. I left the bottom open to cut out the ‘v’ shape and then glued it down. I used my handy dandy can of chalkboard paint and painted two coats on the inside of the burlap.
Once the paint dried I doodled on my new chalkboard and it writes pretty nicely. To wipe it I had to get it really wet to get rid of all the chalk residue.
And the countdown begins! Are you getting excited for Christmas?
