The 1/4 cup butter goes  in the batter - I always struggle a bit to recall the melted butter in skillet is in addition to the 1/4 cup in batter.  But I overthink every recipe, but just reminding others who may question that too.  This is the best recipe!  Use cast iron!!!  Thank you for this recipe!!!]]></description>
