I have found that putting lemon or lime juice on leftover avocado helps to keep it fresh longer. Leaving the seed in the unused portion seems to work, as well. I love the sound of this recipe and plan on making/eating it soon. Thanks!

In reply to <a href="https://mommakesdinner.com/avocado-hummus/comment-page-1/#comment-103403">Sharon</a>.

Thanks Sharon! If you keep the seed in the avocado after you cut it, it will last longer. If you keep it in the fridge it will last longer as well. They also sell avocado keepers that are pretty cool - http://amzn.to/1jmOBH0. I haven't made a plain hummus yet. I've made this one and a Roasted red pepper hummus - http://mommakesdinner.com/roasted-red-pepper-artichoke-hummus/. Both are very very good! I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Sounds wonderful. I will make it today with a SlimCado.
What do you find to be the best way to keep your
avocados fresh?
I can eat hummus with a spoon as well as an avocado.
Do you make your own plain hummus and if so
do you use a recipe with tahini?
Thanks for the recipe.

It looks delicious, I have to try it! I love avocado but have the same problem, I always eat it in the "usual" way, which in my case is cut into small pieces and simply dressed with olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
